It was the last semester of my engineering. The placements were drawing to a close. In the 7th semester, I was not able to bag a job in two different companies that came for placements - TCS and IBM.
Infosys study material pdf is the right study reference for your test preparation. The comprehensive Infosys exam assessment questions & answers are in accord with the knowledge points of the Infosys real exam.
Two months before the end of my engineering days, Infosys came for a pool campus at a college nearby. I was good at programming however I sucked at aptitude questions. Without clearing the aptitude round, there's no way that anyone can move to the next round. Shockingly, I was able to clear the aptitude round and got selected for the interview round. There was a couple of days gap before the interview round. I studied like a crazy person mugging up whatever I could. I'm good at doing practical things but it's hard for me to mug up things.
Moving on, in my interview round, I was able to answer most of the questions correctly. Eventually, I got selected and finally I had bagged a job. The placement was in April, 2014. A couple of months later, I received the offer letter, and my joining date was on 1st September, 2014.
Infosys Mysore Campus
Most Infoscions (employees of Infosys) call the Mysore Campus as 'Heaven on Earth'.
The campus covers an area of 360 acres with lush greenery all around. The biggest attraction in the campus is the training center itself. GEC-2 (GEC stands for Global Education Center) is the largest single building built after India's independence.
GEC-2 has the capacity to train 9500 trainees at one go. GEC-1 has the capacity to train 4500 trainees at one go. So, in total, Infosys can train around 14000 trainees at one go. Each of the classrooms can accommodate about 100 trainees. The training is generally very hectic and gruel for some.
Training Pattern
The training is divided into two main parts - Generic and Stream. The Generic Training is common for all. It's about 8 weeks. The first 2 days will be the Induction Programme where the trainees are introduced to the different policies of the company. The next two days will be of Soft Skill Training. From the 5th day onwards, the technical training starts. It has 3 main focus areas - Java, DBMS and Software Engineering. Generic Training is hectic for non CS and IT students. For CS and IT students, Generic Training is somewhat less hectic.
Each of the focus areas have their separate exams. There will be a objective exam and a hands-on exam. In Generic Training, 65% is mandatory for passing the focus areas and moving on to the Stream Training. Failing to get 65%, the trainee has to give a retest. In Generic, trainees are given two extra attempts to clear the focus area. The trainees who fail after 3 attempts are sent home.
In between the Generic and Stream Training, there will be another two days of Soft Skills Training. In these two days, trainees are allocated to different streams. There are quite a few streams - Java, .NET, Mainframe, Open Source, Business Intelligence, iOS, Android etc. In my case, I got the Open Source Stream. The pressure is really on during the stream training. The courses get heavier and the time gets shorter.
There are 4 focus areas in the stream training. I don't know about the others, but in open source there were :
- Perl Scripting, UNIX and Shell Scripting
- PHP
- MySQL
- Project based on above 3 focus areas
In the stream training, the overall pass percentage is 65%, however to clear a focus area a trainee has to score above or equal to 50%. But keep in mind, at the end the aggregate has to be 65%.
Clearing any exam is a technical thing. It requires strategy. Infosys teaches everything from the very basics. So, instead of studying reference books, read the slides and study material that trainees get. Also, if possible, try to apply their logic in a practical situation. Because that is the type of question which you will get in your objective exams. Also, keep in mind that there are negative markings in the objective exam. So, if you're not sure of an answer, try your best to avoid it.
Accommodation at ECC
The trainees are given lavish accommodation during the training period at Employee Care Center (ECC). The rooms are similar to the rooms that you can find at expensive 5 star hotels.
The boys are generally given single rooms and the girls double sharing rooms. ECC has a separate housekeeping department that is responsible for cleaning your rooms everyday.
- An electric kettle is there in the room that you can use to make tea or coffee.
- All the rooms have a study table with a lamp so trainees can study.
- A large cupboard is there which is enough for all your clothes.
- A locker is also there where you can keep your valuables.
- You will also have large drawers and shelves where you can keep your food and stuff.
- A TV for your entertainment
Food Courts
The campus has 9 food courts and 17 caterers. The most crowded is Magna which is below GEC-2. The two main caterers there are Pathankot and AHost. Pathankot is most popular among North Indians and the latter is popular among South Indians. It has a seating capacity of 1500.

Just across the GEC-2 is the Arena food court. Upstairs you will find Rumi which is extremely popular among North Indians.
Near the hostel areas, the two food courts are Oasis and Maitri. Oasis mainly serves South Indian style. Maitri is popular among the North Indians. Maitri is the only food court in the campus where you can find Chicken Tikka and Chicken Tandoori. They now also have a live counter where they will cook the chicken in front of you and serve it to you. Their Butter Chicken is one of the best.
Multiplex
The campus also has a multiplex with a seating capacity of 1025. You can watch some of the latest movies for free. But, be prepared you will have to stand in a long queue to get the ticket which is in a first cum first served basis.
I have seen trainees stand in queue from 6AM in the morning to watch the 10AM show.
Overall, staying in the Infosys Mysore campus is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I was fortunate enough to get an opportunity to stay in this awesome place for 4 months. So, if you have bagged a job at Infosys, you are in for a treat.
